On the 12th meeting of the Subcommittee “On the Internal Market and Competition,
including Consumer Protection and Health”
Today, on 27th of May 2021, the 12th meeting of the EU-Albania Subcommittee “On the internal market and competition, including consumer protection and health”, which is an annual reporting and discussion process between the Competition Authority and representatives of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Competition, took place.
The Competition Authority was evaluated with very positive marks and was congratulated for achievements in the field of competition, emphasizing:
• initiatives taken to protect free and effective competition in the market towards the investigated markets, as markets with a direct impact on the Albanian consumer,
• completing the process of approximation of secondary competition legislation with the Acquis of the European Union, which is 100% fulfilled, within the framework of the National Plan for European Integration, NPEI 2021-2023,
• increasing and strengthening the administrative and institutional capacities of the Competition Authority through increasing the number of employees as well as training new and existing staff.
