The Competition Commission, in the meeting of in the meeting of September 21st, 2017 by decision no.475 decided to close the preliminary investigation procedure in the mobile telephony retail market and to give recommendations to:
1. The Electronic and Postal Communications Authority, as the regulatory body of the electronic and postal communications market in compliance with legal obligations deriving from Articles 12, 38 and 61 of Law no. 9918/2008, must ensure and attain the protection and guarantee of the well information of customers, by specifying to operators of mobile service that, beside the price of the standard package by the undertaking, also they must publish the unit price for each service (ALL /min, ALL / sms, ALL /MB, etc.) that these packages contain.
2. In fulfillment of these obligations, the Competition Authority requests from the Electronic and Postal Communications Authority to undertake concrete actions within 90 days after the entry into force of this decision.
3. The Consumer Protection Commission, as a body for the protection of consumer interests, to request transparency of prices by undertakings operating in the mobile telephony market for any change or withdrawal of new packages in the market that have a direct effect on the customer
4. Undertakings operating in this market should take measures to apply and publish the unit price for each service (ALL /min, ALL /SMS, ALL /MB, etc.) that standard packages contain, informing the Competition Authority within 90 days after the entry into force of this decision.
Competition Authority decided to monitor the mobile telephony retail market for a period of 1 (one) year, starting from October 1, 2017.
