The Competition Commission, in its meeting held on 09.04.2025, reviewed the monitoring report on the hospital service market.
In accordance with the Resolution of the Assembly of the Republic of Albania, the Competition Authority conducted a monitoring procedure in the hospital service market. During this process, it was found that the companies American Hospital SHA and International Hospital SHA (a company merged by absorption with American Hospital SHA) hold a dominant position, within the meaning of Article 8 of Law no. 9121/2003.
Furthermore, based on preliminary data, it was noted that in relation to certain specific and exclusive services, these undertakings may be subject to assessment under Article 9 of Law no. 9121/2003.
For these reasons, by Decision no. 1173, dated 09.04.2025, the Competition Commission decided to open a preliminary investigation procedure against American Hospital SHA and International Hospital SHA in the hospital service market. The preliminary investigation will cover the period from 1 January 2022 to 31 December 2024.
