The Albanian Parliament in the plenary session dated in 03.05.2018 approved the Resolution “On the evaluation of the Albanian Competition Authority activity for 2017”
The Albanian Parliament Resolution evaluates the role of the Albanian Competition Authority, in order to protect free and effective competition in the market, intervening in markets with repeated and sensitive problems of the Albanian economy, and serving above all to the interests of the consumer.
The Resolution, states that the Albanian Competition Authority for its 2018 activity should focus on:
– Continuous monitoring of undertakings conduct, which were given exclusive and special rights by the state, to identify and avoid monopolistic situations;
– Effective decision-making of the Competition Commission, towards the execution of its decisions over the years.
The Resolution, in particular, requires the Albanian Competition Authority to surveillance the mobile phone market so the conduct of undertakings operating in this market does not have anticompetitive effects. Also to monitor the impact of the transaction after the transferring for usage of the spectrum frequencies from Plus Communication Sh.A to Vodafone Albania Sh.A and Telekom Albania Sh.A undertakings operating in the retail market.
