Authorization of concentration achieved through the acquisition of certain assets, liabilities and legal relations of the Veneto Banca S.p.A company by Intesa Sanpaolo S.p.A.

This concetration is about the acquisition by Intesa Sanpaolo S.p.A. of some assets, liabilities and legal relations of Banca Popolare di Vicenza S.p.A. (BPVI) and Veneto Banca S.p.A., both in mandatory administrative liquidation. In the Albanian banking market, the transaction only affects Veneto Banka SHA, through the acquisition by Intesa Sanpaolo Bank of some assets, liabilities and legal relations of Veneto Banka SHA. After the concentration, the combined market share of Veneto Banka SHA and Intesa Sanpaolo Bank Albania SHA is expected to not have any considerable change, remaining at about 13%, and consequently the transaction will not bring significant changes to the banking market. The Competition Commission, with the decision no. 474 date 14.09.2017 decided the authorization of concentration because it does not show signs of restriction of competition in the market, as a result of strengthening or establishing a dominant position.
