Tirana, 8 July 2025
The Competition Authority, in cooperation with the organization Civic Resistance, held a thematic workshop on 8 July 2025 at the premises of Hotel Tirana International, focusing on the challenges of competition in the market and strengthening good governance through inter-institutional cooperation.
In their respective welcoming remarks, both the Chairman of the Competition Commission, Mr. Denar Biba, and the Executive Director of Qëndresa Qytetare, Mr. Rigels Xhemollari, emphasized the importance of dialogue between public institutions and civil society actors to guarantee fair competition and strengthen transparency in the market.
Subsequently, representatives of the Competition Authority presented key issues such as:
- The dynamics of competition in the telecommunications sector;
- Difficulties and necessary improvements in the field of public procurement.
While representatives of the Good Governance Program at the Civic Center shared their analyses on:
- Economic structure and market development in Albania;
- Results of the public procurement monitoring report (Mr. Kolindo Vjerdha).
The open discussion among the participants stimulated important reflections on the issues addressed and laid the foundations for further cooperation to increase transparency and guarantee free competition in the economic and public sectors.
The Competition Authority will continue to promote events of this nature to be as close as possible to civil society as one of the most important forms of advocacy on competition.
