The Competition Authority, in cooperation with UNCTAD and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), today launched in Tirana the international event “Competition Compliance – Launching the Competition Compliance Manuals”, an important initiative aimed at strengthening the culture of compliance with competition law in Albania.
In the opening of the event, the Minister of Economy and Innovation, Ms. Delina Ibrahimaj, emphasized the importance of increasing awareness and responsibility among businesses in complying with competition rules, underlining that compliance is a fundamental element for the functioning of a free, fair, and competitive market.
Also, the Chairman of the Competition Authority, Mr. Denar Biba, in his welcoming speech, noted that the presentation of the compliance manuals constitutes an important step towards increasing transparency, preventing unfair practices and strengthening market integrity, directly contributing to Albania’s preparation for the European Union integration process.
During the first session, the Competition Compliance Manuals were presented for the first time, practical documents drafted with the support of international partners, which aim to provide businesses with concrete guidelines for identifying, preventing and managing the risks of potential violations of competition law.
Participants from public institutions, the business community, international organizations and experts in the field discussed the importance of strengthening compliance, the benefits it brings to the market and consumers, as well as the new responsibilities that are added to enterprises in the context of approximation with European standards.
The activity continues with sessions dedicated to enterprises, institutions and professionals in the field, as well as presentations by international experts in competition compliance.
