On the occasion of International Competition Day (December 5, 2024) and as part of its ongoing efforts to promote a culture of competition, the Competition Authority organized a workshop with students from the Faculty of Economics, University of Tirana.
During the workshop, three presentations were delivered by representatives of the Competition Authority:
- The role of the competition authority in ensuring free and effective competition in the market – presented by the Chairman of the Authority, Mr. Denar Biba.
- Competition analysis and market structure – presented by Ms. Dhurata Skenderi, Director of the Market Analysis and Methodology Directorate.
- Economic analysis in cases of abuse of dominant position – presented by Ms. Mimoza Kodhelaj, Director of the Production Markets Supervision Directorate.
The presentations addressed various issues in the field of competition and emphasized the importance of promoting competition for sustainable economic development.
Students and lecturers in attendance gained valuable insights into the processes of monitoring and enforcing competition law, as well as investigative procedures in cases of prohibited agreements and abuses of dominant position.
The workshop, warmly welcomed by the Dean of the Faculty of Economics, Mr. Bernard Dosti, generated significant interest among students. This enthusiasm fostered a positive synergy between the Competition Authority, as an independent institution, and the academic community.
